Here's a weird one ... I just purchased a used 24v 65lb transom mount minnkota. It works ok, BUT it only goes in reverse ... If I put it in forward - it goes in reverse. If I put it in reverse it (correctly) goes in reverse (so probably not a polarity problem). Any idea what might be happening...
I just purchased a mid-90's 4cyl mercury 40hp tiller engine.
Fabulous so far, except I'm not sure about the serial number.
The previous owner had painted over the tag, so after some careful paint removal, I was able to get the serial number.
The number is OGxxxxxx - in the references I've found...

my speedometer is stuck at about 60mph. i removed the tube and made sure its clear. pitot (or whatever its called) is in the correct position. is the diaphram shot and therefore the whole thing junk? or is there more troubleshooting to do?
