I have a 91 evinrude 90 hp the tach isnt working on the dash. I have a new spare tach that I would like to hook up straight to the motor. can someone tell me how to make this hookup just to test it. thanks

I have an opportunity to buy a boat with a 2000 evinrude 90 horsepower motor. Did these motors have issues like some of the higher horsepower motors in 1999 and 2000? the motor has 165 hours on it and has a good maintenance history. thanks for any advice
