It can last practically forever if one properly seals all edges and drilled holes with epoxy! Contrary to iboats opinion, boats don't just rot with great care but from misuse and abuse.
I will update this thread with some more of last year's projects and stuff that I was recently working on, when I get back up there in a few weeks time. Did some resealing and rubrail repairs, added a new Fusion stereo system with some nice 6x9 speakers, etc.
Nonetheless, I think we are going a...
VP sucks unless you like overpriced special tools to do basically anything including removing the props which you must do to do basic drive service on many mid-DP models.
You act like those things can be easily tested without YDS. Everything that could have been tested with standard equipment has been tested, including pump pressure at the VST tank which is erratic and momentarily goes to 50 with the key "on" before cranking when it goes to zero.
If you want to...
I agree. I do not have YDS though or a computer with a disk drive to run it. I'm pretty sure it's the ECU. I have learned from an engineer friend, that the ECU controls the VST fuel pump negative side so a simple test while cranking when I am back at the boat should confirm if the pump is losing...
Gee, thanks for the useless advice. You do realize many things have been tested in sequence, right?
-There is compression
-There is spark
-The lift pumps work
-The VST fuel pump is new and runs when the key is "on," but loses voltage while cranking
-The fuses have all been checked and are fine...
Hey guys, really stumped on this one. Originally posted on THT but haven't gotten much help:
Update 1:
The motor in question died while idling out to go fishing last November. Since, it has failed to sputter or restart at all. We have bypassed the kill switch with no change except an audible...
Going to be doing this project soon. I think I have settled on Dacromat and will probably be replacing the actuator as well. If anyone has a recommendation on a kit, it would be much appreciated!
Yup, replacement costs are absurd. That is why I will not be selling my older boat. Ironically doing a pretty major cosmetic fiberglass/gelcoat repair on it right now LOL!
This is why I don't like center consoles...I would never have a boat without a windshield, bimini/hardtop, and canvas isinglass.
That being said, you could get a t-top and close the console off with full plexiglass windows or canvas.
