i used a broken push mower cable in the end of a drill and carefully spun...

just replaced the power head on this motor.
got the motor for next to nothing and got the 2002 power head cheap.
running like a scalded dog on this 1977 14' star craft.got the boat for $225.
i broke a little piece off the lower unit(wish i hadn't) and im wondering if that is making it...
long story short.
neighbor said he had mercury 25hp that flipped in salt water.sat for awhile and locked up.said he threw it away.
i said,man dont throw an outboard away!
couple days later i go over and he says remeber that outboard i was telling you about?i guess i didnt throw it away.it was...
was wondering how i would go about making my 1974 evinrude fisherman electronic ignition using electronic components that they use on lawn mowers and such?
i just bought a 1974 6hp evinrude off craigslist.
it wont pump no water out of the water outlet and it feels like exaust is coming out of it.
he said it was a good motor.
should i see water right after i start it.

first off let me say this was the first time ive evr messed with an i/o.my friend has a boat(1988 four winns3.0 omc o/d)that he left the plug in and rain filled it up pretty good last summer while sitting in the yard.
we drained it and i worked to get it running...
