    4 hp problems in reverse

    I have an older (1980s) 4 hp suzuki long shaft on my sailboat. When I put it in reverse it dosent latch in place and bounces out of the water. It appears that the push rod wont push the hooks far enough down to secure it to the pin. Help pls :)
