So I bought a 115 mercury top. It seams that I've been replacing lots of wires. I changed the stator with a brand new one for $270.00. The wires off the original were literally dust. It runs good but I noticed when replacing the stator. The fuel/oil line for the top crank bearing was broken off...
OK I have a 150 or a 115 the serial number 7171946. I cant refrence it with anything. It has a 115 cowl with a 150 midsection. I believe it is a CanadIan made so that's why I can't find the number anywhere. Does anyone know where to find the serial number so I can order parts.
Hey guys I was looking at my dad's 40 that on his pontoon boat and it looks like water got in the bottom end and froze over the winter and popped out the nylon retaining nut and propshaft. could I just buy a seal kit and new nylon nut. Or will there be much more damage that what I think. I've...
I got everything down to bare case to do the seals but the top bearing is rusted and rough rolling. How do I remove the shaft? I removed the pinion bolt and bolt retainer. Does the shaft and bearing come out as one unit?
I'm working on this 9.9 johnson but the shaft is pitted right where the seals land, and when I install the new seals installing them either past or ahead of the old seals wouldn't work because the shaft is pitted in different spots, I know the best bet should be get a newer shaft,in better...
Ok so this thing runs like a top now as per video:
1970 25 evinrude - YouTube
Now here's where I'm at with the lower unit:
The shift rod had carbon deposit and was eating into the seal. I pressure tested the lower unit, and soap tested the seals. Sure enough while moving the shift rod you...
So I've been working on this evinrude and changed the points, condensers, (gapped to .020), wires (there was a crack where the "up" tab was) I also checked the compression gave a shot of premix in the plug holes for lube, and got 105psi top and 107psi bottom. I took the carb apart and it was...
Anything I should be aware of? I replaced the impeller last year at the end of the season. I just gave it a tune up, and replaced the impeller and filled it with gear oil. It was already drained from the previous owner. I know I should have pressure tested the bottom end, but I do not own one. I...
Re: Points gap way to big? 25 evinrude
Well first off I wasn't happy the way the clips that hold the point spring down. They felt loose so I used the original ones, they seated much better. I didn't want them coming out while ripping down the lake. I think they are defective. Here's the part #...
I took the initiative to change the points on a 1970 25 evinrude. The old points weren't that bad of shape but it was getting no spark to the top cylinder. I installed the new set but they won't adjust to the .020 that I need. the wear point is at the embossed (TOP) but the gap is a little under...
