When I change the oil pan, do I have to change the rear main seal gasket and the one that goes around the harmonic balancer? Or is that gasket all one piece? Also can I use an Auto oil pan gasket instead of the marine version?
Same with the oil pump, can I use an auto oil pump?
I'm rebuilding a 1989 Sea Ray 210 BR, and there was TONS of foam in there. Does anyone know if that is structural or for flotation purposes?
I don't want to put foam back in it, and there is going to be much more wood for structure than before. But if it needs it for flotation because maybe...
I'm going to be doing some maintenance to my motor which is an '89 260hp 5.7 Mercruiser with Alpha One gen 1 outdrive.
Basically what I need to know is what oil should i be running and what oil filter, and what spark plugs are needed.
I'm really struggling to find much info on these older...
Hey everyone! I'm doing a resto on my sea ray and I was redoing the bow seats but the foam and wood are rotten. I've replaced the wood and I have some new vinyl, but I'm having trouble finding a good foam for cheap. I've seen some outdoor foam, but is that really necessary? Any points in the...
I have a '89 Mercruiser 350 5.7L and I am going to replace the risers and manifolds, but when I went to buy the parts there is an option for 3" or 4" risers.
What is the difference between the two?
How do I know which one goes on my boat?
The last couple times I took my boat out the temp was around 170-180 on my 5.7L mercruiser. Is that too hot, or is that normal? Oil pressure is good, at around 80 psi. Could this be a sending unit problem? How can I check the temp other than what the gauge is telling me?
Thanks
Well I drained the gear oil from the outdrive this afternoon, and When I first took off the drain plug the oil was a dark gray, not really milky or thin but dark gray and consistent viscosity with the rest of the gear oil. So i let it drain completely for about 30 min, and when I looked in the...
I bought a boat with my buddy about 4 months ago, and I decided I was ready for my own. I found this Sea Ray, for a steal I might add, and I knew it was going to need a new deck because of the soft spot by the bow, but the previous owner told me that the stringers and transom were in good shape...
