Just got a new boat and 60merc. Its a 2024. I've always done my own maintenance and have always had shop repair manuals for all my Evinrude Outboards. Merc is new to me but I can't seem to find a shop manual for anything newer than 2011. Are they just not available?
Thanks
It is a good suggestion and I will give it a try as its easy. Although I kind of think I ruled out that issue as I did clean all connections (they were all spotless, but are more spotless) and I'm showing 0 ohms on all wire runs. Wouldn't corrosion add resistance? Either way I'll give it a...
Thanks for that. Will try with the test light idea. Don't have a DC amp meter. But that's a good explanation of why I might be seeing what I'm seeing.
Out of town for a couple weeks so will report back when I return, but really appreciate the ideas.
4 different batteries now. I've ruled out battery. Original was tested fine. 2 more from my trolling motor setup that have been used lots this spring and are working fine, and one from my lawn tractor just as an experiment of using a low charged battery (small was easy to drain down quickly)
Finally a nice day, spent the afternoon on the dock trouble shooting. Long story short I'm still stumped.
I get increased voltage all the way to the end of the battery cables, right until I hook them onto the battery. Started thinking that since the battery is 100% charged that its just not...
Sorry wasn't trying to bring things back up to you. I didn't venture out to the dock today as the weather was poor here as well. I will get back at it when weather improves.
Thanks,
Unfortunately not it. One of the first things I checked. Tested fine but changed anyway. But now that you say that I will verify the wiring is fine as well next time I'm testing.
agreed, that is why I started this thread as I'm stumped. But I do need to dig into the solenoid contact points. Just need some better weather, fingers got too cold today.
An no offence taken, but yes I'm measuring ohms.
0 ohms.
Unfortunately not my battery. Load tested a little lower than new but still acceptable. But I tried both of my trolling motor batteries anyway just to be sure and no change. They are both 1 year old and I know I don't have 3 bad batteries. Whatever the battery voltage is at the time...
