    I’m missing something should there not be 12v at the pos side of the coil at start

    Hi there need some help please I have an 89 2.3l omc and having a no sparks issue replace the points and condenser tested the voltage at the coil getting 5v but when I remove the positive from the coil and measure the wire get 12v as soon as I connect it back to coil it drops to 5 v any ideas...
