Thanks for the input and replies. Good to know there are options and that a nee engine would seem plausible - if I went that route I would keep the boat for the long haul. The boat is a 1999 Chapparal 232 Sunesta. My next decision raises the question if there is wood in the stringer system…...
Ok. I finally got back to cranking the boat and unfortunately discovered that water was leaking along a crack along the block on both port and starboard. Pictures attached.
I think my options are 1 to replace the engine block, 2 get a complete drop-in replacement or 3 see if I can sell it...
Anyone know a part number for a freeze plug kit for the engine in the thread title. Was not sure if a GM cross reference would work. Thanks in advance- Geoff
Two things: I heard the pump audibly change (I was thinking the float rose and shut off the inlet valve-- so was deadheading the pump). Then not seeing any flow into the carburetor when exercising the throttle- I decided to see if the 4 bolts on the front when removed would yield any idea of...
Just a little follow up- I did confirm that I filled the carburetor bowl when jumping the pump. However, still did not get fuel into the mix chamber when exercising the throttle. All the exterior linkages appear to move, but not sure about the internals. I will look for videos on carburetor...
Ok. I was able to do some troubleshooting last night. Tried to follow the scenario from ESGwheel above with a few tweaks to confirm fuel through the pump from the tank.
1. I did jump the pump and pumped fuel from tank into the filter.
2. Removed fuel hose on top of pump and verified fuel...
Yes
I have confirmed in the past that I do have voltage on pin 30 at all times with the battery connected. I was thinking that I was not getting power with ignition in “On”through 85 and 86 to engage the relay passing power through to the pump, but I am believing based on what the schematic...
