Does anyone know if these motors have any underlying problems in the shift mechanism? I have removed the cables and confirmed they are all fine. I was able to shift the unit by hand with the lower unit off the boat. I feel like there is a problem in the mechanism between the power head and...
There is a Cobalt 226 just sitting in my storage going to waste. It hasn’t been licensed in my state since 2012. The storage manager says that “she just keeps on paying”. It literally hasn’t been moved in several years. It’s weathered really bad. I’m looking into buying it.
Does anyone know if...
I bought this motor last summer with 498 hours on it. It ran really good when I got it but with in the first could hours of use I had cylinder #4 drop down too 85 psi with all other at 125.
I rebuilt the motor my self. All 6 cylinders were bored 0.20 over and had 6 new Wesico pistons and rings...
I've got a 96' Evinrude that will fire up on the first turn of the key one minute and with out being used the next time may or may not have spark. Last Wednesday i recorded the linked video. The motor fired right up just fine. Yesterday, I had a buyer drive down 4.5 hours to buy boat with a...
Hey folks,
im just going to skip how this has happened.
I need to re-tap the threads of a main bearing in my block. What are my options?
1.) Re-Tap with a larger bolt?
2.) Insert a Heli-Coil?
3.) other
This bolt does not have a lot of wall thickness to work with. Fortunately it doesn’t seem...

Since owning this motor I have always had this little issue that just bugs me.
Slow speed stalls. Whether it is loading up on the trailer or just moving to a new spot to to fish. Hole shots are problematic until I get a little momentum up.
The motor runs great except for this...
My packing has come off around my vacuum switch wires. The mating connector has three pins but yet I only have two wires. From looking at the mating connector I can tell that the middle wire is not being used. However, I do not know which wire (tan vs black) goes to which pin in this connector...
Hey folks,
My dad taught me in mechanics 101 to always to block any sort of hole that allow a part to fall into it. I know this but sometimes issues happen.
I was installing a rectifier on top of my block when i heard what sounded like a part. (screw, nut or washer or something) fall down into...
Hey folks,
I've got a 200 Johnson that I thought was running just fine. However, I decided to check my compression and found out that my compression was
1 - 100 psi
3 - 25 psi
5 - 105 psi
2 - 100 psi
4 - 100 psi
6 - 105 psi
I pulled my head of and looked at #3. It is black on the top and there...
Back in September I bought a 2000 Sprint Bass Boat that has a 1999 225 FICHT. I am very aware of the history of the FICHT problems. Please don't tell me to dump in the ocean. I bought this boat priced with a BLOWN MOTOR. However, when I got it home i started right up with some new plugs...
Folks teach me a little about prop slippage. Input the 409T with the J 3.0L 225 in the water today. Seemed sluggish on the hole shot. It also seems to have some prop slippage. It felt like a bad clutch on a car. My trim gauge wasn't working so that bothered me a little. I was on a small lake and...
I have just swapped motors on my Javelin 409.
It had a 96' 225. I put a 93' 3.0L Limited Edition in its place.
The 96' has a newer wireharness that does not have the big red plug. However, my engine has the big red plug. I have both harnesses off both motors at my disposal.
What is the best...
I got a 96' Johnson 225 with a hole in the lower case. Swapping it for a 94' 3.0L Finger Port Limited Edition.
The boat currently has a jack plate and hydraulic steering. I'm hoping that everything will just swap out and bolt up. Are there any pitfalls that I need to be on the lookout for?
I need to locate a lower unit for Johnson J200PLEEB
This is a 1999 Johnson Ocean Pro. Does anyone know the best way to search for this lower unit. Does anyone know the part number that this unit would be associated with?
89' Johnson 200 GT
Was in rough water last weekend and my trim/boat leveling gauge went dead. It's either the gauge or the sending unit. I don't know the exact resistance range from up~down. However, I assume that I can simply disconnect the trim harness at the motor and take a resistance value...
