2000 2bbl thunderbolt V 4.3L V6
Ran our of gas and waited 2 weeks to refill.
then
Boat will not idle at all.
opened and cleaned carb.

I think it is a problem with my auto choke and idle mix
Choke plate never moves and is ALWAYS open. Also, choke housing gets very hot when I run. engine...
Rule Mate 1500 stays on for 5-10 mins after Manual or Auto mode is enabled... (10 amp fuse)
I have cleaned the internals..
It just keeps sucking long after the bilge are is dry. Is this the way it is designed?
I have a 2000 I/O 18 ft. (Mariah Shabah 186 4.3 Alpha gen II)
Do I run a battery charger at 12V-2amps all the time?
Tricks to keep ants off the boat?
If I don't have an auto bilge...Is a new pump with auto necessary, or are the float switches acceptable?

I tore my shift bellows and will probably just change them all. All forum searches didn't pull up the info i wanted...
Are the $90 ebay or amazon bellows kits terrible quality?
My boat is freshwater, should I change the shift cable too(540 lake hours)?
Also, dumb question. a 4.3 mercruiser...
