    WOT RPM for 85 hp 1969 Evinrude

    I own a 1969 Evinrude 85 HP. The manual says WOT should be 5000 RPM. Alot of people in the marine industry say 5500 RPM. Is it a range and I am ok somewhere between 5000-5500 rpm?? Just don't want to burn the old baby up. Any input appreciated.

    I own a 1969 Evinrude 85 Hp. Anyone know if this engine should have a overheating alarm that would sound if engine is running too hot? Also, how warm should the water be coming from the pee hole.     Evinrude lower unit gear oil...which one??

    I own a 1969 Evinrude 85 hp, electric shift...does a certain type of lower unit gear oil have to be used or will any do? I have heard that some older electric shifts require special gear oil. Can anyone advise?
