    will a yamaha tach work?

    I have a 1986 yamaha 50hp 2 stroke and I also have a 1997 evinrude 9.9 2 stroke. I want to use the yamaha tach on the evinrude to test props, is this possible?? It sure beats buying a tach, just to test rpms for different tachs.

    What year engine is this, and whats needed for steering?

    I am trying to find out what year, and what official hp this evinrude is. I am also trying to hook up steering and throttle controls, so any help would be greatly appreciated. BTW, I think its a 1997

    10hp limit lake, evinrude 9.9 needs help catching up

    So we fish in a tournament where there is a 10hp limit, so we run an evinrude 9.9(i believe a 98) I will get the model umber tomorrow. We get absolutely smoked on the lake. There are larger boats out there than ours, and we still get smoked. I think some are running 15hp, what can we do to...
