I have a 1980's fiberglass tri-hull 16' boat. All the newer boats I see are single hull. Was this a 1980's experiment or fad that was shown to be inferior? What are the advantages and disadvantages of such a design?
I have an old fiberglass 16" boat that needs new carpet. My wife came up with the idea of using one of those non-slip paint products commonly used on steps and floors. Some are epoxy-based, colored, and seem to contain a sand-like compound. Aside from appearance issues, is there any reason...
Please forgive the stupid question, but I have very little previous experience, and no User Manual.
How do I increase the throttle while in neutral for starting and warm up? On my old controls there was a separate lever. On this one, there is a "Throttle" button, which I presume is to...
I have a 1986 Mercury 60HP outboard and I don't like guessing how fast I'm spinning the engine. I'm confused by the variety of tachs for sale for Mercury, or Mercruiser and the like. Can anyone suggest a good tach, or what to look for and avoid?

I installed the motor and cables myself. Could it be a simple cable adjustment? If so...
My Merc's starter has developed a mind of its own. With the Lever in Neutral, the starter engages without the key being turned (will even engage without the key in the ignition). With the Lever elsewhere (F or R) the starter will not work even with the key. As I shift between F and R, the...
I bought this engine in pieces and cheap due to it "needing a piston". Visual inspection shows a very clean engine, two other normal-looking pistons, and undamaged cylinders. Just the top (#1?) piston is damaged as shown.
Just wondering what might have caused it. Don't want to repair it...
