I have an old 1979 Orrion open bow 19 foot boat that I have working on for a Long Long LLOOONNNGG time now
been many time I though about pulling it out of the shop and torching the dam thing!!! would have been cheaper to buy a new boat at this point !! but I am in to deep at this point...

I am rebuilding a 1979 OMC sterndrive 400 and I am at that worm gear in the upper gear case
I have some questions if I may?
1 - how tight do you set the threaded cat on that worm gear till there is no end play?? or a bit tighter ??

Just got a new alternator and it only has a single post.
my 1979 omc stern drive system has a 3 wire for the old alternator!
the new alternator has a built in regulator!
so my question is ( if i get it wrong please correct but be kind as its a ego thing)
with the new alternator i can do away...
I got a top end kit listed as a marine kit for a GM 3.0L 181 cid 4 cylinder!
But the head gasket is not a stainless steel head gasket that came in this kit
does this make a differance?? or should i stay with the stainless steel head gasket and look for a new one of those??

i have no leaks no were all the oil is clean no water in the oil
so i got a water pump kit and a new ball gear kit
and i was wondering how big of a job this

well i got my motor all rebuilt new mains and rod bearing new piston and rings 1979 omc chevy 3.0L inline 4 cylinder 140hp!!
so i went to pressure test everything i could and all was fine till i got to the exhaust!!
there is a heat tube in the intake / exhaust manifold about in the middle next...

and it has the Rochester 2 BBL Carburetor
