at about 4500 rpms. 1987 rude 140, Teleflex Tach (origianl). Motor runs fine and appears to be charging the battery as usual. Just started doing this. If I reduce engine speed to idle, I'm good until I hit 4500 rpms again.

To re-torque the flywheel nut (140 ft-lbs), is it ok to lock the prop with a block of wood to keep crank from rotating or will I damage the gears in the lower unit?

In replacing a blown head gasket in the family wagon, I broke a head bolt. I was able to back it out about 3/8 inch then it sheared about 1/2 inch out from the deck. I removed the head and have 1/2 inch of 11mm (7/16") stud to work with. Some one must have been here before and done this. Please...
