I was running my boat on the weekend and off goes the overheat buzzer. I removed the thermostat on the water and let the motor cool before restarting. No go for the restart. justa wouldnt start. used the trolling motor to get back in.

1) Does it matter if the thermosat is in or out? If i take it out, then i don't have to worry about any occuring overheating issues.
2) Should there be a steady stream of water coming out the coolant exhaust?
How do I identify my 50hp force without the identity plate (Its missing on the transom- should have been riveted on!). I need to get a bottom end seal kit, and i can't identify it! Help!
I have a 1991 50 hp force. The forward shift will not work properly...., it will shift into gear (forward), then when u go back into neutral, it won't shift into forward. It acts like its in neutral (fast idle). Going into reverse works fine-no probs. There are no grinding noises or funny...
