I am working on a 1971 50hp. Neutral and Reverse gears are working, but forward isn't.
I did put in a different directional switch. I have 12 volts to 1 wire for neutral and 12 v going to both wires for reverse and nothing as the motor is supposed to default to forward.

I have a 50hp 1971 evinrude that won't start. I have spark on one cylinder but not the other. the coils were checked and tested okay.

I have a'68 40 horse johnson with hydroelectric shift and a '71 50hp evinrude. The 50 has a 3 button shift control. The 40 has everything on the stick for the remote (forward = forward, up = neutral, back = reverse.)
