    Oil change

At least the Oil's Detergents are keep that crud in suspension so it can be drained. Far better than having it building up on the Internals, while the Oil remains Clean, at 100 hrs. How long have you owned the Motor?

1983 Mercury 150 Vibration and Noise

Keep in mind, with a 2 stroke, if there a very early spark, while the Transfer Ports are open, the Flame front can travel back into the Crankcase, as well as trying to push against the Piston coming up. When on the Muffs, the noise of the Exhaust, as well as the Lack of any Back Pressure, may...

1983 Mercury 150 Vibration and Noise

All the wires to and from the Switchboxs didn't get scrambled when you were making other changes to the Ignition system? Do another Compression Test. I think 84 was the first yr where the Engine mixed the Oil into the Gas, so I hope you were running Premix

In 1978 and 79, OMC had 99 cubic inch 85, 100, 115, and 140 V4 Motors. In 1980 thru 1984, they were 90, 115, and 140 Motors. In 1985, the V4 Loopers were introduced, these V4 were called 120 and 140hp, the 99in Crossflow V4s were 90, 115hp. As the 80s went along, theses engines were also called...

    Used or reman outboard

In the Late 70s through into the 80s there were 3 inline 6s, a 90, a 115, and a 140. Although all of them were the same Displacement, and shared a few Parts like the Crankshaft,, there were many differences, Porting and Port Timing was different, in some cases there were what was called Power...

    Used or reman outboard

Some People, including some Mechanics, think every I6, or V4 Powerhead is Identical, despite there being a 50hp difference. After all, in their Eyes, it is just a difference in the Jets in the Carbs.

    Johnson won't start

When You said only a few Ounces drained out, but no Water, I thought I should ask, in case you had tried filling it from the Top. I still find it odd that no Water was in the Case. This is going to sound Pessimistic, while I like saving money by sourcing Parts myself, letting the Person doing...

How to run twin 5.0s from portable outboard tanks

I know my 5.7 Volvo Penta, can go thru 33 Gallons(us), in 90 minutes at WOT, so a 6 gallon potable tank would last about 16 1/2 minutes

    1994 Johnson 60hp (J60TTLERS) - Rough Idle & Milky Plugs on All 3 Cylinders

Is the Cooling System working Properly? Low Engine Temp, especially at Idle, can keep Water(a Product of burning Fossil Fuels) from Boiling off. Check Thermostat for proper Operation, as well as the Poppet Valve, for deterioration, and a weak Spring

    Left side lean?

Does the List increase as Speed goes up? Run a Straightedge on the Starboard side of Hull from the Transom forward, and look for any gap forming. I am suspecting that the Stringers have rotted out at the back allow the Hull to flex, creating a Hook. It is a 23 yr old boat, and I suspect your...
