While I am loving my boat, I would like to update it if possible. My engine is a Black Max 200 (1987ish) and while the controls work, there is a lot of slop in it and it looks very dated. The Teleflex CH1700 looks a lot nicer than mine, but it seems like it's about the only option. I was looking...
So my boat is an '87 Marlin Aries with a Black Max 200hp 2 stroke outboard. After playing with a few different props, I got it hitting 55mph on GPS and really loving it. But my lady wasn't, so we talked about adding a windshield. Since my boat didn't come with one, that left a lot of options...
I got a Lever Kit from Mercury (part # 87609A1) and I am trying to replace the zip ties that were there when I bought my boat. I'm just not 100% sure how it goes together. If anyone had a picture of it or something like it, that would be awesome...
'87 Marlin Aries 20' with a Mercury Black Max 200hp.
The current prop is a 13 1/2 x 26 and my max RPM @WOT is only 4800. I got a stainless 21 when I purchased the boat, but I'd rather not run a stainless in the channel. So what is a good aluminum pitch for mid range WOT (5300-5800 specs)...
The bracket that holds my control cables to the engine is missing the cover. It seems there are 2 styles, my is the "other" style that doesn't seem to be available any longer. My question is would it be possible to change it out to the standard style?
The parts printout I have is from 1978-1988...
So it's running and running really good. I took it out yesterday and had her doing 45mph at 4k RPM. But I was WOT at 5k. Then on the way back going with current I couldn't get above 4800 RPM. She was doing near 50mph, so I am damn happy overall with this boat purchase. She was just humming at...
So my engine is mounted to a height adjustable mount that is mounted to the transom.
I can understand the advantage of being able to raise the motor for shallow waters, but I really don't see using my boat in that shallow of water. It just seems like an unnecessary piece of really heavy...
I don't own a Mastercraft, but I am looking for information on the "Safe-T-Top" that came on the late 80's early 90's Prostar boats. Here's a picture of a 1990 Mastercraft Prostar 190
Anyone know what the T Top is made out of? I would love to make one for my Marlin Arries. Thanks.
I just picked up my first boat a few weeks ago. It's a 1987 Marlin Aries bowrider with Mercury Black Max 200hp outboard that sounded good when I bought it. I got it all loaded up and ready for the first trip out on Saturday. I got it in the water, running, idles fine, cruised it out of the no...
