boat quit on water last week, now when i hit the key it turns slow like a weak battery and backfires and the low oil alarm goes off but it is full of oil.. is it out of time? or in safe mode or has oil pump gone out ?? any ideas

motor has always ran super with no problems
now when i hit the key it drags slow and when it his it backfires loud
had it out on the water 2 days ago when it got hot and started loosing rpm's
so i shut it off and broiught it home
after it cooled down was when i noticed the back fire when...
have ran boat for the past 2 days and it ran perfect as all ways
took boat out tonite got it up on plane and about 5000 rpms and it cut back to 3000 and sputtered and then took back off.
so i shut off motor and smoke was coming from under cowl ,, hit the key and it barley turns over.

my little 3 hp yamaha has lost its get up .. it dont wanna excelerate to well lately.. gas is good plug is good carb is clean , it has the lilttle fule pump built in the side of it ... Does it have a diaaphram in there? and could that be the culprit ? (if it is dried out)...

and also should neg side of coil be hot as well as pos side ?
i belive i have solinode hopoked up right

i got the engine coupler back on [thank guys for help on that]:D
now my question is how serious is my line up putting the motor back
i dont want this to happen again by misalinment :eek:
if i bolt back up to back mounts and center front of motor to back of motor
and then level motor using...
today i had my boat out, [18 foot open bow/470 merc]
boat was running great and just quit pulling, motor reved up and smell of hot or bunt grease or maybe rubber and smoke came from dog house.
when i got it home i pulled out drive and it works fine[when i turn prop drive shaft turns] i guess...
hi i need to know what waterpump i need for my outdrive
s/n is 6785792 also has 1.84 r on it
im not even sure what drive it is
the 470 runs good so far but i am rebuilding it and the outdrive this spring
any info would be great
