I have a J48ESLETE that I would like to put a tillar handle on.
I bought a tillar and shift off ebay and it looks like it will work, except for two things. 1. No steering friction control and the T and T doesn't have a "trip up" feature, if I would hit a log or something (on flat bottom river...
93 mod J48eslete: I'm wanting to put a tiller handle on this motor. Have it all worked out except for the steering friction, dampening, or what ever the device that holds the motor straight if you turn loose of the tiller for a sec.
I don't think this motor was ever offered w/ tiller, but...

While taking the lower unit off to inspect water pump, I decided rather than take a chance on damaging the wires I would pull the shift solenoid out and leave it with the powerhead group.
Now after puting the shift solenoid back and installing the lower unit...
