Boat is winterized and was checking the drive after changing the shift shaft seal this October. Drive was pulled for yearly maintenance. No oil dripping or puddle on the ground. Clearly a very small amount coming out of the upper shift shaft.
Normal? I've never noticed this before after an...
I'm kicking myself, my boat is a 99. I've had it for six years with no issues, this season I decided to do some extra maintenance and do the shift shift assembly and carrier assembly, Have never had oil leaks before and now I do.
Split the drive and found the shift shaft assembly soaked in oil. Pressure tested and found the leak in the oil bushing gasket. Just installed the part two days ago. Serves me right installing Sierra parts.
I can see that oil coming out of those weep holes could be either the shaft assembly...
New gear oil leaking out of the lower unit holes after putting the out drive back together. Which seal is to blame?
Water was flowing out of holes when running on the hose. Drained oil after seeing the leak, no water in oil.
The speedo tube is in front of the shift lever, I had the connection secured to it during the video. The water looks like it's coming from way above the plate where the speedo tube connection is

Should this lower (1999 A1G2) also have a shift shaft sleeve installed? (Mercruiser 23-67370)
I've never had this part on my lower, but im wondering if it should.
Looking for info on a part. Found some water in lower oil while changing it, pressure test found the issue was the shift shaft bushing, seal was torn and all oily. The replacement I got is missing this washer. I can't find any info or part number for it. Only thing I can find is a shift...
Found a beat up cooler upside down on the side of the road right off the highway in update NY where we camp. Just got into town and saw it, pulled over, full of PBR, ice was still cold. Ive been trying to duplicate that kind of luck every since
I had the tube on my Merc 3.0 for three seasons until I did all the bellows at once, so I re-installed the exhaust. I like it being slightly quieter, not a huge difference. Interestingly enough, I think I can feel a slight rumble/vibration through the steering wheel now since the exhaust is...
