    Because of your help I was able to locate the problem, the wire for the diode was removed from the ing switch, thank you very much for all of your help.

    I tested it for continuity and got no reading through both sides of the switch

    I will, just trying to cover all possibilities so I don't keep bothering people, I really do appreciate your help, I have never dealt with Electric shift before.

    I don't know the purpose of the switch, I have looked over the diagram alot.

    I replaced the starter but not the solenoid, it starts fine, I seen on the diagram that power was routed from the solenoid through the vacuum switch then on to the control

    It's cool, I appreciate all the help, it's a johnson shifter, could abby of this problem be in the starter solenoid, it got real hot and the starter quit while the guy I was buying it from was trying to show me it it run.

    Yeah, I know it has to be running, do you mean the throttle/shift control ?

    Troubleshooting 69 55hp johnson that won't shift into reverse or neutral, I'm not sure where the power is supposed to come from for this Electric shift, I get no power on blue or green wires.
