    58 Evinrude Lark impeller direction

In a previous post, I reported that my 58 Lark was not pumping a lot of water, and that the motor was extremely hot. After 2 days of taking the engine apart and putting it back together, my repair buddies, who are actually pretty good, decided that the last thing to do was to flip to new...

    1958 Evinrude Lark 35HP --- Another Question

I'm having trouble figuring out how to reply to my previous post. The original question is below. The head is very hot. It you splash water on it, the water sizzles. If the pump is working properly shoudn't the engine run cooler? 1958 Evnirude Lark 35HP does not pump water---just spits and...

    Evinrude Lark 35HP prop replacement

There was also some light oil I like motor oil)dripping from a small hole about a foot or so above the exhaust...

    Evenrude Lark 35 idle/shift

My Evenrude Lark 35 starts and runs fine. Carb and sparks just done. Idles at just below mid-throttle, but dies when I pull all the way back. If I don't pull all the way back, it won't shift. So, I have to pull the throttle all the way back, shift, then restart. Is there anything is the...

Small opening at bottom of transom between drain plugs

I'm working on a 1958 Dorsett 14' ski boat. There is a small hole, a 1/8" at the base of the transom between the drain plugs. The hole seems to be there by intention. It is finished off with a metal grommet. No one can tell me what this :%hole is for. It drains water when I take the boat...
