I just got a new (to me) boat and trailer. Trailer looked great until I took the hubs off to replace the bearings. One side was ok, but the other side it looks like the spindle has been rusting for quite some time and is now a slightly smaller diameter... because of this a standard 1.719"...
Going to look at a 1999 flats boat tomorrow. 17' with a 99' 135 Merc Optimax on it. (no optibomb comments please).
Going to do a sea test and bring my compression tester to test it out. I've owned boats for 18+ years, work as a shop manager so know my way around a wrench but I'm always open...

I've been battling a prop slip problem... to the tune of about 35% or more!
Here's what I run: 23pitch 3 blade Mercury black max, 6000 rpms at 37 mph. Speed checked...
I have a leaky gas tank on my old Action Craft... the good news is it's impossible to get to unless you remove the top cap of the boat (sarcasm). I really don't have any other option other than to take off the cap, do I? :grumpy:
Now I have to figure out the best way to do this... probably...
2007 Mercury 90 2 stroke carb'd.
Rebuilt the carbs, new plugs, new filter all around 100 hours or so ago. Maybe a little less. Been running great.
I changed the fuel line a couple weeks ago and I've had it out on the water probably 3x since then and it's been good. No different.

Hey guys. I'm getting the oh-so common fuel bulb sucking flat at wide open throttle. Everything up to about 3/4 throttle is fine although it still gets sucked down... but at wide open it actually bogs the engine.
