    Check your lower shift cable. Take the lower shift cable off the shift plate and gently pull it out and push it in as if it were shifting. Is it smooth and easy, or is it a little difficult?

    Anything plastic so if your water tube is plastic and the little plastic or rubber grommet things that holds the trim sending wires. I was more thinking about the gasket to the transom though. You can try running cool water over the parts you want to keep cool while you weld.
