I need a new prop for my 22 foot Bayliner deep v hull cuddy cabin. I hit a rock with the stainless steel prop, and I'm not able to get the numbers off of it. I have MerCruiser 350 engine, and a 55 gallon fuel tank. I'm not sure of the weight. Any suggestions?
Re: timing cover questions
I've never seen the timing cover you have on the right. Have you checked the crank position sensor hole? If it's open you'll have a leak. It's located on the bottom left of the cover.
Here's a picture of the inside of my timing cover, it gives 2 part numbers, one...
I just got my 3" riser extensions, and I'm a little confused as to which gaskets to use & where. The manual shows a restrictor gasket on top, but the actual riser extension kit comes with open gaskets. Take a look at the screen shots.
Originally I had open gaskets between my mainfold & my...
A few weeks ago, I noticed my trim up switch wasn't working. I looked around the drive and found the SB side trim wires were corroded and were hanging loose.
I ordered a new set, and will be installing tonight hopefully. I haven't replaced them before ... is there anything special to it? Just...
I've been trying to troubleshoot an issue with my outdrive trim. With the boat on the trailer, only the trim down & trailer switches work. The trim up switch does nothing. With the boat in the water, all switches work normally.
Any ideas??
The motor is a 1997 350, Vortec heads, SEI 116 (Alpha...
I was on the water for about an hour yesterday, pulled into a cove for some swimming & killed my engine. When I tried to fire it back up (about 1 hr later), it wouldn't turn over at first. I thought it was my batteries or starter ... checked the voltages, and they seemed normal (I charged them...
I have a Mercruiser 5.7 with a new Edelbrock 1409 Carb & a new Performer RPM intake. I'm connecting everything back up and before I go make a custom bracket for my throttle linkage, I'd like to see if anyone know of something I can use.
Got my new motor & Edelbrock carb all setup & working. There is a vacuum advance port on the carb, and I believe it's for an automotive distributor.
What should I do with this port? Cap it? I circled it in the picture.
I'm looking to rent/borrow a Mercruiser engine alignment tool. I live in southeastern Mass, close to Cape Cod.
Just dropped in a 350, and need to get her ready for the summer.
Thanks!
Just finishing up assembling my new 350 crate motor with a mixture of new & old parts. I mocked up the motor on a trailer and test ran it. Everything seemed OK except for the coupler. It doesn't seem to be "smooth." It seems to be bouncing around and vibrating. I posted a video, take a look. Is...
Re: 2010 GM 350 Engine Problems, Stalls, fuel delivery issue?
I'd take a look at this, I believe Don made it:
Make sure the wiring to your starter is correct. And also check your fuel pump ground wire, and the purple wire at the alternator. Check to see if they're snug. I believe the...
I'm assembling a new 5.7 crate motor, and I was testing a new electric fuel pump when I noticed that oil started to leak from behind the balancer. I took a closer look, and noticed it leaking from the base of the timing cover. See the pic, the oil is coming out of the hole that is circled...
Re: 5.7 Raw Water Pulley Wheel
Re: 5.7 Raw Water Pulley Wheel
OK, here's an update. Using a straight edge, I measured how far off the pullies were from each other with the washers in place, and the Recirculating pump pulley was about 3/16" off of the other 3 pullies. Way too far in my opinion...
OK, I'm doing something wrong. I'm putting together a Mercruiser 5.7 from a GM Crate motor, and I've replaced my recirculating water pump with a brand new pump. The pulley wheel that I have from my old 5.7 bolts on fine, but it rubs against the pump when torqued down. Do I have the wrong pulley...
