Starting another thread as my first one kinda fizzled out as I did more fishing than restoring the past 2 years but now I've got the motor off and am redoing the transom at least.. But I'm having trouble figuring out how to get at a few things.. And I may have the only one of these boats in...
Re: 1979 70HP crank case bleeder valve configuration
Still looking for a pic or diagram. Factory service manual doesn't really say. Here's how they are currently connected and I'm not seeing any gas/oil travelling between #1 and #2. The tubing I used is yellow translucent and still clean...
1. 3/4" exterior grade plywood. 1 sheet enough?
1. West Systems epoxy? How much approx?
2. Biaxial cloth?
3. Drain tube and flanging tool(homeade?)
4. tube of 5200 for through hulls and sealing splashwell. Gas and oil drips a bit from motor so has to be resistant.
5. hardware?
6. Beer
7. ...
Wondering if anyone has a picture of how this is supposed to be setup? I'm pretty sure I'm missing a connection and a T-valve but I'm not sure. I've stared at multiple parts diagrams and can't find anything that shows these things connected. The system is a few check valves, 1 atop the motor...
I have this center beam on the trailer. The keel roller is all the way forward. Problem is the keel scrapes on this center beam on the way into the keel roller/bow stop. Any ideas? I'd like to add one of the wide self centering rollers or something there to stop the scraping.
Sorry for...
In the rear of my boat I have a cranking battery and a house battery. They were initially connected in Parallel but I disconnected the positive leads pretty early on because I didn't want my FF and livewell killing my starting battery. I left the negatives connected for the sake of a common...
It's a pretty heavy boat with front and rear casting decks. NADA says 1300LBS and thats without gear? WOT at the moment seems to be around 4600 RPM. Top end is around 31 MPH. Does this seem right? I'm going to have to drop down to a 9p prop to get into the correct WOT RPM range? Previous...
Looks like oil from the motor has done a number on the exposed wood on my transom:
I scraped out most of the rotted wood, which is all in the splashwell area there. Everything below the splashwell is fine. No rot. Its just the wood right at the seam there.. Am I looking at replacing...
Unless I get in the water just perfectly, I have a gap at the bow stop when I pull out. Which wouldn't be a big deal if I could winch it the rest of the way but I can't unless I have someone pushing the boat onto the trailer from the stern. I don't think my winch is high enough? I'm also...
Yeah.. So I replaced this rusted out fuel sending unit. Worked great(not at first, had to play with ground connection after connecting new sender) but 3 weeks later, gauge now says empty. I know I have at least a half tank. Time to get the volt meter back out. Ugh! Key on and off both show...
16' Starcraft PM160. The transom is designed where I cannot fit another smaller motor beside my main, so if I want a kicker, I have to go with a bracket. Any recommendations or thoughts here? Might be tough to get to with the decks built in the back of the boat.
Heres a couple pics:
Lotsa garbage here..
This is the Down Imagine shot of the above..
another random shot.
I guess I was going too fast?
Just thought I'd share.. Was also trying to figure out all the garbage in the display on those first couple.. I really don't think there was that much junk in the...
I have a couple of these in my boat I am about to re-work. The p/o has the wires all cut back or cut out and I'm just left with the stubs at the sockets. I'm going to re-solder good wire into them, but I'm wondering about the grounds? I don't see anywhere for a ground wire to attach? There...
Tach sits between 200-300 RPM when off and even when disconnected. Is there any way to adjust this? Where the needle rests. Have had the boat for a couple months, and didn't notice this until a few weeks ago.
Any idea how to remove? These screw in? I started pulling lightly and they didnt give so I stopped. Service manual says to remove to test coil, but doesn't tell me how to remove. I see on parts schematic that you can order just the wire so I know they aren't built into the coil. Any help...
