Happy New year to all, I need some idears of how some of you have hoisted you engines out of your boats
I have twin merc 470s and need to rebuild one or maybe both, Or find a better set of twins to match to my outdrives
but first I have to get them out, the top of the transom is about 71/2 off...
So the end of the season my be the end of my boating. Went out to the boat this morning to find her low in the
water batteris died and had lost the bilge pump ( port out drive has a small leak in the bellows about a month)
any was the engines went under just over the starters. Installed new...

:confused: Hi all here the deal I have a 1987 Thompson daytona with twin 470's. she is set up with 4 batterys
2 house and 2 starts she only has one battery switch, look's like it had 2 switch at some time in her life.
Only one of the motors has a alternator. O and it has the original charger...

tried over powering the port engine over starboard but not help, :rolleyes:any idears where to start to fix???

:mad:motor turns over begins to start and as soon as I let go of the key it dies
checked the wire coil to choke no problems wire rings out OK with a meter.
gas in the carb, in fact I had a flame shoot out of the carb well it was turning.
any help?????????:eek:
