I did the compression test - all four cylinders are between 98-99 psi.
And I have done so much more. I have been working on it for months.
I won't go into the details before I personally started working on it!
I have a 70 gal stock/test tank I use for testing it out. after all of the last check...
Thanks!
I am not having the problems he had, but i am having problems.
The guy i bought it from replaced the power head about 8 years ago, said it was a direct replacement, i would have thought it would have the same numbers if it was, which is why I asked.
Are you knowledgeable about marine...
Hi all,
I am trying to confirm the motor I have is actually what I bought.
The number on the plate on the side of the motor is a 115999R which should be a 1979 115HP V4 Cross Flow.
There is a stamped plug on the top of the power head that has an M at the top, and a number 2BBXCOM, & J08C0754...
I completely disassembled and rebuilt the carbs after I installed the external filter. along with every this else I have replaced or checked.
That said there was a little water in the bottom of the bowl on this filter.
So it's doing it's job.
I'll pull the tank and check it and replace all of...
I am going to drain, pull and inspect the tank, lines and anything else, yes it is built in.
I also put on a fuel water separator where the fuel line comes out of the hull to the motor.
but why would it run in the test tank and not when in the water? its the same gas coming from the same source?
starter battery and cables are good.
I'm going to test compression again, then i will pull covers and send pics.
just retested the compression and realized i misread the gauge the first time, all four are between 95-100 psi. so am i good to not look at the pistons?
its a brand new guage. but i will admit this is the first time in my life i have ever done this test. i followed the instructions those were the results. i can run them again to be sure. not sure where or what the bypass covers are.
I think i figured out the covers there are four one for each...
OK, looking at the back of the motor, the two cylinders on the left are at 79 PSI, the two on the right are right between 78-79 PSI. What does this tell us?
Hi,
I have been trying to get this motor running right for months.
I took it to two mechanics. The first, a reputable Marine shop, that had it for three weeks, and it came back running worse than it did when I took it in. The second, an old boat guy near me, that only works on old boats. He had...
