    Driveshaft removal Etec 115

    Hit a rock and destroyed gearcase. Received new OEM gearcase without driveshaft in place. Assume I am to transfer old driveshaft to new. Removed retaining plate but am unable to extract shaft. Are there other procedures? Any help appreciated Mike

    Well I'm tired of constantly fixing my Johnson 1998 115hp engine and have decided to repower with an Etec. There seems to be 07 and 08 models available at the dealers, with pricing a little higher for the 08. Is there any difference between the 07 and 08 model years? Mike

    High speed stall

    Johnson 1997 115hp Was running great until i overheated. Replaced head gasket, ran well until battery drain. No tack or charging, replaced regulator and rewrapped wires found toasted. Tack works but volts at 10.9 -11.4. Will idle and troll, but when up on plan will only last 1 minute or so...

    Water cooled regulator

    Head cover bolts stripped

    Intake blocked by dreaed seaweed, not alarm sounded resulting in overheating and temp sensor popped out. Pulled head looked good and replaced head gasket. Replaced head cover gasket and found 3-4 stripped bolts. Can I use loctite on the head cover bolts? Do I really need the head cover...

    Solenoid testing

    When is fuel filter clogged

    When should you change fuel filters. I put in a water separator at beginning of season with clear bowl. No water present in bowl but some small solids. I see whitish grey residue around carb bodies which to me indicates water in fuel. Has my fuel filter failed decreasing separator efficieincy?

    Bogs down from 1000-1500 on acceleration

    Johnson 115 (1997) rebuilt carbs last year. Runs fine at idel and above 1500 rpms. Bogs down as I accelerate to higher rpm. Check for air leaks. Could it be fuel pump? Mike

    Can get running using choke and advanced throttle. Difficulty going to idle, must race engine and then quickly shift to gear, otherwise engine stops.
