I have a honda 5 hp 1997 that's running rough at idle and mid range.
I changed the oil in the engine, lower unit, put in a new spark plug and fresh gas. I also checked the compression at wot (throttle rod disconnected and pulled) I raised quickly in a couple of pulls to 150 psi.

will a lower unit from a 1988-2002 30 hp fit on a 1987 30 SH 3 cyl. The yamaha part catalog show a specific part number for 1987 year, an other for 1988-1994 and an other one for 1993-2002

My outboard is running a little bit too fast at idle, how I sould adjust the linkage to reduce the speed ? by unbolting the throttle cable bracket from the cylinder and rotating it a couple of turns?
