symptoms--
port engine is hard to start when hot (but starts fine cold)
going to idle off of plane it usually dies unless done gradually
hard to dock because doesn't idle well
sometimes idles at 1200 and seems to stick too high
surges down to 100/300 then 100/500...
Just started on this problem so I don't have all info yet. But here's where I am:
had the boat out the other night with friends coming down from WOT for 10 minutes the oil pressure alarm went off. Guage which is suspect as many of my guages do not work, said oil pressure was good between 20...

I REPLACED MANIFOLDS, AND RISERS BECAUSE THEY WERE CORRODING AND RISKING THE ENGINE. BEFORE THE REPLACEMENT ENGINE WAS GETTING STEAM OUT THE EXHAUST THRU HULL, BUT RUNNING AT NORMAL TEMP.
AFTER REPLACEMENT...RISER ALARMS TRIPPING AND TEMP GOING TO 220 ON RISER, AT...
vp 5.7 gxi 2003.
just put on new manifolds and risers, thought i did a good job. good seal no leaking, looks the same as the other engine (twin) as far as hoses, sensors, etc.
now the boat overheats after 5 minutes at idle not even in gear.
--tons of water flowing through out the side...
