I have two 1992 Evinrude 225 engines. The port engine has had several ignition problems this year. I replaced the regulator which did not cure all. I have replaced the flywheel and stator three weeks ago. With the new stator the engine fired immediately and was used off shore for a full day...
Engine will run at times and not at others. No spark when not starting. Coil connections cleaned and sealed. Stator tests 11 volts. Books says it should be 18 - 20. Is that low voltage the most likely cause of the irratic starting? Magnets were glued in by somone else. Tach will not work...
