I have a 1972 mercruiser 3.0 140, serial # 3436899. It has a carter fuel pump with the filter on top. The casting is stamped Carter on one side, and "blob of metal" - 735 in an oval. It may be a MO-735. I do not believe it is a marine fuel pump as it has a vent hole and no fitting to plumb...
