    Popping and revving?

When the engine first started (cold), I had had good fuel pressure (put a T-fitting and gauge on the output line). Once the engine got hot the pressure would fluctuate intermittently. Pulled the pump and rebuilt it. Noticed the gasket between the pump and block (seals the pulse port from block...

    Popping and revving?

No, not running out. Inconsistent fuel pressure.

    Popping and revving?

Rebuilt the fuel pump; no more popping.

    Popping and revving?

Hello, working on my J45RCLEIA commercial outboard. The Seloc manual mentions adjusting the idle mixture; but...mine does not seem to have one. See the exploded view below. My carbs don't seem to have any mixture adjustment screws? Both carbs are the same except for the roller-follower, it's...

    Popping and revving?

Head was slightly warped; had it resurfaced. Ran good considering compression was low on one cylinder due to the leaky gasket. When the video was taken the motor was off idle and throttle plates were slightly open at about 1200 rpm.

    Popping and revving?

Yes, adjusted both carbs also for closed at idle and horizontal plates for wide open throttle.

    Popping and revving?

    Brand new fuel and oil.

    Popping and revving?

Nope, throttle set just above idle to keep it running. Popping and farting like crazy. I ordered a fuel pump rebuild kit, I have all new Tygon fuel lines and the filters are all clear.

    Popping and revving?

I just put a new head gasket on my Johnson 45 HP commercial, pressures are 145 upper, 135 lower. Engine is running at normal temperature and is now popping for some strange reason. Check out the video. Plugs are brand new and clean, mixture is new gas and 50 to one, I have some Seafoam in the...

Low compression on Johnson 45hp pull start.

Waiting on parts, made good progress and was able to remove the broken head bolt.

Low compression on Johnson 45hp pull start.

Would the head warp due to overheating? Anything else I should look for/do going forward?

Low compression on Johnson 45hp pull start.

Head’s off; only one head bolt broke off in the block. Looks like a gasket fail, is this common? Cylinders have no scoring.

Low compression on Johnson 45hp pull start.

For some reason the two videos won't play, but the pictures show my compression on top and bottom cylinders, respectively.

Low compression on Johnson 45hp pull start.

OK, decided to try another compression tester that I know works (from my friend's automotive shop). This is what I got; 65 psi top cylinder, 110 bottom cylinder. I guess now that I have accurate readings I'll pull the head. Any comments?
