Hi all. About two years ago I finished the restoration of a '67 Larson 18' All American. As always, it took longer than expected and required more money than originally estimated, however, the boat is absolutely stunning. Owning a small wood & metal shop allowed me to really improve the interior...
I'm in the final stages of a smaller boat restoration but have always liked the looks of the larger, wooden cruisers. Can anyone tell me what company made this boat? I can't enlarge the photo with enough resolution to see the make.
Thanks.
Re: 1967 18' Larson All-American 186
I've taken the Nautolex "sandstone" vinyl and have glued it in place all the way up to the bow. It was tough spreading the adhesive evenly in the recesses of the stern on either side of the splashwell ..... but that area isn't visible so I'll be the only one...
Re: 1967 18' Larson All-American 186
Well, actually a lot has happened .... but it doesn't look like much yet. I've completely restored the keel near the bow and have found some long cracks in the hull that I've glassed also. I cut out a floor section near the bow so it could be glassed from...
Re: Larson All American
Hi Keith.
Did you ever find seats? I just pulled them from my 1967 Larson All-American. They're the original "sunbather" seats and were used on '68 Larsons also. They're in pretty good condition because the boat has always been covered. I'll attach a few pictures for...
Re: 1967 18' Larson All-American 186
Well, I've removed all the hardware, helm instruments & rub rail. The previous owner must have added additional screws to hold the rub rail in place because I had to remove at least 100 screws .... all rusted to the core. I've heard that dark spots in the...
I've got an 18' runabout that I'll occassionally taking from Newport Beach to Catalina Island. I have a good VHF radio but am in need of an antenna. For that distance (26 miles), how large of an antenna should I have to ensure a good signal in case I need it? I'd like to use a removable antenna...
Re: 1967 18' Larson All-American 186
Well, I shook and shook the oversized 150hp Mercury engine and didn't see any flex. I've been told, and I believe it, that the Larsons of this era use very thick fiberglass and the overall weight of the boat is rather heavy. Next week I'll be pulling up the...
I've read a lot about boat restoration and have seen a lot of great pictures. I'm planning on taking the 18' Larson All-American I just purchased and performing a repair & restoration. There's a lot to do such as reupholstery, fiberglass repair, painting, restore the trailer and so on. But...
I love boating and have been surrounded by boats since I was a child. I've been dying to get a boat (for Southern California harbor cruises & small jaunts into open ocean) but have started a new company and cash is a little tight. I have access to a small fabrication shop that could handle the...
