    1976 Merc 120hp wiring problem

I am getting 12.5 volts at the battery, but only 1.6 volts at the ignition switch. Turning key to accessory I lose power to everything, 0 volts at ignition switch. Turn key back to off, have dim light at blower switch (should be off) and again 1.6 volts at switch. Ideas?

    Powerhead swap easy? - 1979 to 1975 40hp merc 402

How much effort would it be to swap the power head from a 1979 40 hp Merc 402 to a 1975 40 hp Merc 402? Anything I need to look out for?

    Spark Plug Brand Comparison

My mechanic tells me that all the new reference materials for plugs for my engine (1979 Mercury 40 hp) will call for a NGK BUHW spark plug. This is true. In the old shop manual it calls for a champion Q77V. He says to throw away the NGK plugs and try the Champions as they were the plug...

    1975 Throttle actuator fabrication

My throttle actuator broke (fell apart) at the adjustment screw as I was tinkering with it last night. I look online and the part is no longer available. Anyone try fabrication of parts? I did see a throttle acutator on ebay, but it is also made of 30 year old brittle plastic, which I am...

    Driveshaft compatibility 40 hp merc 402 1975 to 1979

I recently bought a 1975 merc 40 402 since my 1979 merc 40 402 lost compression in the upper cylinder. I got the new motor (1975) running, went to put my jet end on and can't get the driveshaft splines to line up. Both driveshafts have 11 splines and seem to be 3/4 of an inch in diameter...

I have read a lot of posts that recommend spraying fuel in carbs. Do you just use a regular spray bottle?

    65 hp 1969 mercury won't start

I seem to have no power to the starter. It worked yesterday, then I installed a new electric fuel pump, starter does not work today. I jumped across the starter and got nothing. There is a clicking noise coming from the switch box. Any Ideas. The motor has a thunderbolt ignition. Thanks, Pat

    65 hp mercury outboard won't start (1969)

I don't seem to have power to my starter. I did yesterday, put a new fuel pump in (electric), then when I went to start it, I just get a clicking noise from the engine. I had the battery load tested, the battery is fine. I tried to jump across the starter and no spark, no turn, no nothing...
