It’s hard to turn it just by fingers typically when the brass connectors are together.Use your half inch wrench to try and turn it in.It easily could have been backed out when you were taking connector apart by turning lower brass nut instead of top one to pull lower unit.I have had that happen...
Thanks. What you say makes sense.I think if tdc of piston wouldn’t line up with a mark of TDC on flywheel then key would have to be broken on crank and that was ok and flywheel was replaced and electrical under flywheel replaced by me. Not like there is a timing chain or gears on these. Obviously...
Bump..Thought I would bump this and see if anyone can help on this issue.Haven’t been able to work on it since last September and with spring on the way wanted to try and figure this out.
No it was not moved. Whole ignition was changed out by me and bracket was notched out prior to me getting it and motor was running before it had damage done to ignition. Slow mode was just a stab in the dark. Aware that it does limit rpm
Trying to determine why previous owner/owners ground down the starter bracket where timing stopper screw goes thru to achieve more adjustment and be able to lock nut to get proper timing.Flywheel key good.I performed Joe Reeves timing adjustment and I could only achieve proper timing with this...
After looking things over and making sure there was no changes made from factory it is for sure a poor attempt to compensate for some timing issue.Screw was fine as far as length.Shame, hate to have to repair/make a spacer so I can use it on my electric start add on,but still have the older...
Could be?I wanted to use this black bracket but hate to now,not that it will make much difference as long as I get timing right.I will have to take a closer look and measure it and take a look at the end. This was on a remote controlled motor,so not sure if someone did that trying to get the...
Have a 20hp 1985 that I got parts to do electric start.Something that I hadn’t seen info on was the timing adjustment screw.I ended up with two starter brackets. One from a 1977 35hp and the other from a 2003 25hp.I saw the 2003 starter bracket has the area for the timing adjustment screw notched...
