Does anyone know what this plug is called ??

These grommets are common on 70.es and 80.es japanese engines such as Suzuki, Yamaha, "japanese built" Mariner and maybe Tohatsu (Nissan). Cover for the shift linkage coupler.

    1985 Force 85 tilt/trim motor question

You have to pull the brushes back when reassembling the board were the holders for the brushes are mounted. Maybe use some tooth picks to hold them back. Then put the cover on. Can be a PIA.

What oil to run in trim/tilt shock absorber?

If using ATF beware the oil can eat the seals and it starts to leak again. The T&T require 30Wt non detergent, other multi grade 30W oil will eat the seals.

What oil to run in trim/tilt shock absorber?

I have never opened up a shock absorber to refill the oil but the T/T system on Chrysler/Force engines used to need 30Wt non detergent oil. It depend on the seals if they can manage ATF oil. I would suggest you to use 30Wt oil.

    1987 mercury 75

6218795 and if 3 cylinder, it is a 1982 year model. Not a looper, it is a cross flow with low domes at the pistons. Sorry did not read all posts, it is a Mariner. Forget the information above.

    120hp Force year?

The Force 120Hp came in 1990 and as it has the Force style LU and not the Mercury style it is an 90-94 year model. From my experience looking at the decals it is post 1992. As jerryjerry says look for a foundry stamp at the block, it is like a circle with the year in the center.

    Reeds?

Try to prime the bulb easy when starting warm and feel if it is firm, our you can add some fuel to the bowls. Maybe the bowls are not filled enough. Check the plugs when you have tried to start it cold and it is not firing up. Are the plugs wet or dry? Try to find out if it is fouling the plug...

    Reeds?

I assume you have checked and set the floats in the carbs soo they are parallel with the casting when turned upside down. Do you prime the bulb when starting when it is warm?

    Stop switch location?

The issue is that you have the black wire connected at the I terminal at the keyswitch. Remove it and isolate it at the terminal pad. No ground (minus) wire should be at the keyswitch. Use it if you will have auxillaries at the remote control or the dashboard.

    Stop switch location?

The blue wire from the other M terminal at keyswitch should go back to the terminal strip at the engine and be connected at the second screw from bottom. There should be a metal jumper between the second screw and the first screw from bottom at the strip and the first screw is for mounting the...

    1988 125 hp Force rebuild

The gasket for the exhaust tube F439736 is N/A and if it is bad you have to make one of your own. If it is bad exhaust will leak and maybe it will come up under the hood and the engine will breath some exhaust instead of only fresh air. The gasket exhaust lower 809825 is N/A and you have to make...

    85hp Merc?

    Late 60es (68-69) and early 70es (70-71) 650 were 4 cylinders. The 3 cylinder 650 was from 72-76.

    85hp Merc?

Yes there are different ways to remove those parts, saw or drill and crack are some action to get them out. But the bad thing is that it can be problem to get a new carrier and nut if you have to take the LU apart. If you find them they can be pretty expensive, the carrier is a whole assembly...

    Stop switch location?

Ignition switch has stop function. Key all the way to left and you stop the engine. 1988 125Hp and you should have the Prestolite ignition system with two CD modules. Keyswitch has two M terminals, generally one of these M terminals is connected to ground and the other M terminal connected to...
