Transom Protection

On my 1988 Sunbird I/O, they just cut through the transom for the outdrive, and apparently did nothing to protect the raw plywood edge. Plywood may be pressure treated and is in good shape. Should I do something to protect the exposed plywood?

    Lugging the Engine

I just read an article about selecting the proper prop. The author said you could seriously damage the engine by choosing too fast a prop which would cause the engine to lug. Is this for real? Is there any test data to substantiate? How quickly will it damage the engine?

I've got...

    When to stop

This is going to be a long one. I took my 1986 4.3 OMC to the repair shop because it is cutting out at about 3/4 throttle. The first thing they did was to run a compression check and found #1 and 3 had low compression (100 psi for 1 and 3 vs. 140 for the rest of them). Numbers 1 and 3 are...

    Transom Hole

    Deck Box

My 20' Sunbird is a cool fishing boat but it has no storage. I am looking for a box to mount in place of the passenger's pedistal seat - something like 4' L X 2' W X 2' H. The Betterway Products boxes would work, but weigh 60 to 100 pounds. Does anyone have a lead on something a little lighter?
