I have a 95' Volvo Penta Dual Prop DP-A (I think) which came with a 180hp 4.3 vortec engine. After I froze the engine it to death, I re-powered with a 320hp 5.7. Now, as expected, my 2.30 lower gear ratio does not do this motor justice and is easily limited by RPM and not drag. Now...
