    70 merc won't start sometimes

    My 87 mercury will not start perhaps 1 out of 20 times. Hot or cold doesn't seem to matter. I have restarted when this happens by removing a spark plug, grounding it near the plug hole then turning the motor over. It usually fires right up on 2 cylinders! (out of 3) What could this be? Ideas...

    87 Mercury fails to restart

    I have an 87 Merc 70 hp. When cold the motor generally fires right up. After using it for awhile it will turn over but not fire.
