Will the gears in the lower unit in serial# 4038142 fit into the lower unit of serial#2977742 ?<br />any help will be apprieciated. Also, do you know the year of manufacture on these.
1978 Evinrude 35HP comes out of gear and then back again under a full throttle load. If you back off the throttle though, it seems to be fine. I have adjusted everything I can, to no avail. I have heard from a couple of people that, I will probably need a new or rebuilt lower unit.
I have a middle to late 70's Mercury 402. For some reason the lower unit won't come off. I have the service manual and have done every thing correctly, it drops down about 1/2" but something is still hanging up. Can anyone help PLEASE???? <br...
This engine is a 1978 Evinrude 35HP. The problem is, that it pops out of gear at high speeds. I have adjusted everything I can to no avail. At low speeds it is fine.
