    Affordable fuel injection intriguing

The 3.0l in my 4 winns before the repower was arguably the most reliable engine I ever had in a boat. No matter how long it sat, what else happened etc... was there ever a time I was worried about it not running. Rebuilt the carb once in 20 years. Hunt around for a delco est takeoff and forget...

95 Sea Ray 230 Sundancer stringer repair

I did giant laminated blocks with lags and more 1708 on them than I care to admit. When I originally installed the 4.3 I did the same thing. Figure if that goes, everything else has too. Not on larger boats where the stringers are open all around. But on the smaller ones where the plate...

    Family of 5, 19ft or 21ft?

If you're going to boat on candlewood, I reccomend a bow rider. I take my cuddy up there with dad all the time but due to the terrain, a bow rider is nice. Leave the back in 4-5 feet of water when pulling up to the shore and the bow floats in maybe a foot. You enter and exit off the bow. Much...

Those are great. Until the stringer rots out anyway. :p

They drilled with the engine in place. Not enough room to drill straight down with a manifold on a normal drill. (Right angle will squeak in)

    Family of 5, 19ft or 21ft?

Funny enough, the one time I put myself on bottom was Holgate. :ROFLMAO: Found out my chart was very wrong as I'm looking at the markers wondering "I'm not in the channel am I?" As I pull up on a sand bar. No harm was done. And unless you get a hard south wind or a crap ton of boat traffic, it...

    My 84 4winns horizon 195 project.

Yes. Using the "investment cast 316" from one of the various suppliers. The base diameter is correct just 2 of the 3 holes need to be moved. Like was said, not a big deal

    My 84 4winns horizon 195 project.

I want to get away from the chromed pot metal fittings as I'll just have this issue again being I primarily boat in brine. The full stainless (at the expense of redrilling) seems to be the better option to never have to touch it again. I've wanted to replace these fittings for nearly 20 years...

1981 Rinker with Mercruiser 120HP, In what order should I do these repairs??

If its the original MC-1 drive, the upper bearings should be torque to spec via the nut as they're shimmed. (That's mentioned in the video as well.) You may not need the rolling torque wrench.

    My 84 4winns horizon 195 project.

I'm back. Actually never left lol. So that punch list in my last post... yeah like only parts of that happened. As of uncovering it this past weekend, I made a new punch list: Replace adhesive on cockpit lighting. Did that Monday afternoon. Rebuild trim and tilt pump. (Started weeping...

    New Stuff on Vehicles likes/dislikes

My next new to me vehicle is sitting in the side lot at my friends house. It's got hand crank windows. :) (My 19 is the newest vehicle I care to own)

Alphas are usually okay with strokers. They don't like big blocks though. That being said I know a few people with big blocks in front of them that are still alive... I'd focus on getting it usable first though.

95 Sea Ray 230 Sundancer stringer repair

I use the cool vests for hazmat calls in class A. Wasn't allowed to borrow those. The air feed would've been awesome. I was doing almost 2 gallons of water over a 12 hour day gutting. Coincidentally never stopping to use the restroom as I had no need. I brought it up with my PCP and a...

95 Sea Ray 230 Sundancer stringer repair

I'm not saying it can't be done. I dehydrate faster than most and have dealt with the issues that come with that my whole life. I've also seen guys nearly die in shorter amounts of time. Everyone's different and needs to work up to it. Every hour or so I'd pop out and chug sone water and hop...

95 Sea Ray 230 Sundancer stringer repair

If you go one size larger on the tyvek, it really helps keep the itch to a minimum. Only time I got the itch during my whole project was when I wasn't wearing one and working with surface prep. I reccomend a full face APR. It's a pain but really makes a difference and you can fully encapsulate...
