yeah that was interesting to find took me a while.

    AD41P Ignition staying on

found it. there was a 33ohm resistor in the "breaker box" on the engine hooking the brown wire and blue/red through the resistor. I have no idea if this was stock or something someone added, but fixing their connection it now works properly.

    AD41P Ignition staying on

Got the new alternators in. did not fix it. One thing I did notice on the port engine *which works properly* is that if you forget to hook up the small ground wire to the alternator case it starts to turn stuff on like the gauge lights at low voltage. I think I have a bad ground somewhere. I...

    AD41P Ignition staying on

I will report being it is getting 7v means there is something in front of it. Might be a coil, but probably a diode. In the box where the cable connects to the engine, there is a black rectangle thing. (it is not the problem I checked) do you have any idea what is in there? It goes to the brown...

    AD41P Ignition staying on

I tested the alternator today, yep fried diodes, voltage in both directions 47 and 25 respectively. I think it should be more like 700 and only one way. I found some 100 amp ones in Germany that are cheap. I think it fried every diode in the system though, as the gauges were still on after...

    AD41P Ignition staying on

I think I am looking at a different diagram than you. Mine shows 3 being the blue/red that supplies everything power. Goes down the cable into the engine harness, which becomes the red, goes though the breaker, and goes over to the alternator, I am guessing the exciter wire. maybe the p has...

    AD41P Ignition staying on

terminal 3 (blue/red) . it is supposed to be the ignition wire but it is always hot. I will bring my diode tester tomorrow, but i am guess one of them is fried. Now the fun part begins to figure out which alternator it is. There are like 40 of them for ad41p. I will ask marine-j for a quote he...

    AD41P Ignition staying on

The red wire to the ignition is getting power even when ignition is unplugged. now to figure out where this wire goes. blue and red stripe also it is marked bat plus though assuming it should. sorry I had it backwards found a diagram the blue/red is getting power from somewhere at it should not...

    AD41P Ignition staying on

alternator would be much cheaper, those alarm thing are treated like gold. will know tomorrow I will post results. it is such a simple system. just have not found it yet

    AD41P Ignition staying on

nope unplugged them both great idea though still on. edit well it turns off the one obviously, but the other is still on and vs versa. I am starting to think your first idea may be right, sucks because those things are not cheap, but if I were worried about that I would not have a boat. I have a...

    AD41P Ignition staying on

you are talking about the board on the alarm thing correct? As I do not know of any others. Thank you for your help, I will try all 3 things in my head and yours also tomorrow. Would be interested in what could fry them both at the same time. The only thing I can think of would be starting the...

    AD41P Ignition staying on

It leaves the gauges and the tilt powered as soon as main power switch to the motor is on. When you first turn it on it thinks the motors are running as it sets off the alarm until you put it in stop. It will stop the alarm, but not turn off the gauges or tilt. What I have tried 1...

    No thermostat, overheating

hmm you could always do it the old fashion way. remove the inlet to the pump run a hose into the water and see if it is still a problem. If not it is somewhere behind there. make sure you use a hose that cannot suck in on itself, wire sprung works well

Seastar duel controls with an auto pilot pump somewheres

I have seastar upper and lowers in my boat. I want to add an autopilot to it but I am have problems finding what to do with the compensating line between the upper and lower. Common sense would just tell me run in and out as normal and split the compensating llne as the return and call it good...
