    Evinrude 88 Special

    I have a ticking noise while at mid RPM.<br />This has been ticking for a couple of years soI don't think that something major,But it is starting to get on my nerves.<br />Sounds like maybe a reed valve.<br /><br />Any help<br />Betme 55

    water problems 88spl

    I just replaced the water pump and themostats on my 1995 evinrude 88spl.I put water to it and started it up.Pump seems to be fine however there is water coming from around the bolts that hold the large rear cover on.This is the cover between the heads.Is this in anyway connected to the water...

    tachometer sits at 5000

    My tach sits up at 5000 rpm when the engine is at idle,I ve checked behind the tach for anything loose.

    How hard is to replace the water pump on 88SPL<br />Is this something that I can do with out special tools?

    Hail Joe Reeves

    The fluid lockup was it.Thank you very much.Now can I ask you one more thing?I have spent 2 cycle oil dripping out of the two exhaust ports and from somewhere up around the under side of the power head.This runs down the front of the lower half of the motor.<br />Thanks<br />Bob

    tilt/trim problems

    I have a 88spl The tilt works in the up direction only.Pump is running when I hit the down switch but motor will not go down.I can get the motor to come down using the relief valve only.I have checked all switches and relays.All is fine

    Evinrude tilt trim

    I have a 96 Evinrude 88hp.The tilt will not go down.The pump motor is running and I have checked the oil level and it is full.The pump motor makes the same sound as if it was at the full bottom position.The tilt did go up and is at full up position
