I have heard switchbox and power pack were the same but not CDI. The only CDI I've heard of is the company that sells CDI switchboxes for Mercurys.
As I said earlier, I'm not familiar with much more than my 95 115. Just offering my 2¢ :)
I couldn't find a Mercury switchbox for my 95 115. I found other manufactured versions but not OEM. I went with CDI electronics and it is working fine, wasn't expensive, $36 on Amazon. Mercury suggests you replace both switchbox and stator at the same time because if one goes bad it can damage...
I had the same problem with after market dust caps on my '94 Ranger trailer. After 3 sets I called Ranger and ordered new ones and they never came off. I wonder if the new caps are made in China and there is a minuscule difference in the cap size that allows it to pop off.
I ordered new rotors...
As dingbat said, the broadcasts from NOAA provide details. NOAA broadcasts the forecast for areas around you. Information provided by NOAA includes where they are broadcasting from, intensity and direction of the storm if severe. There are multiple WX stations on the VHF radios and the emergency...
Our group uses VHF radios with the WX channels to get NOAA weather broadcasts. If there's an alert the radios switch from the normal channels to the WX channel and provides the warning. It's enough to get us to come in off the water. :)
I have a '94 RangerTrail trailer. My dust caps were in rough shape from putting them on and taking them off to repack the bearings. I bought several sets of caps both locally and online but every one of them popped off. I have metal beauty caps on the wheels so they didn't fly off and I was able...
I visited this site 3 years ago and he does a good job of explaining the tests. He has what appears to be a 115 1995 model Mercury. Yours may be slightly different in the actual readings but should be close.
My 1995 115 Mercury started having starting problems last fall. This spring the motor quit running so I ran some tests.
On the right/starboard side of the motor there should be an enclosed, inline, fuse holder. check that. You say there is no lanyard for the run/stop kill switch? You need to...
The boat should have a capacity/rating plate on it, typically visible from the driver's seat. If that plate is missing you could be cited for not having it. It will tell you what the person/weight maximum is and maximum HP as well.
New thought:
Have you checked the kill switch circuit? On the switch box there should be a connection with 2 black w/yellow stripe wires. One is for the kill switch on the helm control, the other goes to the rev limiter, if your motor has one. Disconnect each one and try cranking it.
If there...
My long gone Starcraft wasn't grounded to the negative post. There weren't many electrical components on it but I did add a flasher and just ran wires back to the battery. Bow and stern lights were double wire. The engine, like you said, had its ground at the battery negative and sacrificial...
